Celebrations all around (and a discount coupon)

::sings:: ...Celebrate good times come on...duh du duh du du du duuuu...

Someone downloads one of my patterns every day, some days see a lot of downloads, others just one, but it happens pretty much every. single. day. The thought of this amazes me.
Monday will mark the end of my first year working on this micro business, do you remember how excited I was to reveal the secret?

What a year it has been. I'm at 1000+ unique downloads of my patterns, and I'm thankful for every one of them.
One year ago I couldn't imagine making $10-20 from my designs. I've made a good deal more than that this year, which means that new goals/dreams have been set for the next year and I'm so excited to see where this road will lead me.

But wait, there is more... SIMPLE WITH A TWIST has been selected as a pattern option for the  Beginner's Knit-Along April Cable KAL. I feel so honoured, that they included the pattern, even though it's a pay for pattern. So to celebrate I offered them a 10% discount valid for all my patterns.
And since I'm in the mood for celebrations I though I would share it with you as well.

#2 on the way

This week I've been kept busy writing a paper, since it is now just about done I'm enjoying some knitting in a ray of sun. Today I've made a lot of progress on the leg of the first sock of the second pair for my dad this year. The marker shows where I was yesterday and I'm almost done with the leg, just a couple of cms to go.
I think I'll knit this pair like the previous. That is, knit the legs of both, turn the heel on both, knit the foot on both, then the toes and voila a pair of socks.
What are you knitting on?

Yoda all done

Remember Yoda? He is now framed and sitting next to my man's PC on our desk.
My man is now asking for another Star Wars embroidery for his best mate.

Designing = Frogging

Everything was going well with the design I'm currently working on..
Too well in fact.
It felt odd that I hadn't done any ripping yet.
I'm so used to designing being equal to a lot of knitting and re-knitting.

But as I said, everything was going well and I started knitting holes in the design.
 Intentionally of course.

And that is when I noticed that the pieces was about 13 cm too short, no wonder it was going so fast...
rip it - rip it - rip it

Oh well, the show must go on and I'm already knitting on it again.
Only now the rows take double the amount of time they did before...

In other news my mac seems to have come back to life on its own accord. I think placing the install disc right next to it must have had the same effect as holding a gun to a persons head.
Everything is being backed up again as I type and the mac has been doomed not fit to save anything on, but it seems like it just may be working as always again.

Fixed x 2

Once again our bed broke down, luckily my man was able to fix it for next to nothing.

Inspired by his diy fix, I dug out my dad's old leather needles and started sewing our puff together. I had been procrastinating for a long time because I was expecting it to be a difficult job. Turns out it wasn't at all. I found the perfect needle for the job, wax it up and was done in no time. This reminds me that I should stop putting things offjust because they seem difficult, if I don't know for sure.

Do you have anything that needs a quick fix?

What I picked up

While my beloved MacBook seems to have given up its ghost, I still wanted to share with you what I picked up after finishing the socks for my dad. I chose the design I'm working on... writing this sentence reminded me that I have not uploaded the newest pattern to my dropbox, I looked and it turns out I have not uploaded any of my patterns to it. Major Fail. If I'm lucky I have backed them up on my other system, if not i guess I can always get the files from Ravelry, but I just have to repeat myself: Major Fail (10 points if you know the pop culture reference that made me use a capital F both times).
Oh well, all is not lost yet we have only tried 3/5 things mentioned on the support site, I should know come Monday how bad it is.

Now, you should stop reading this and go back up your computer. People I said now.

Assuming you back up your files more often than I do, which I thought was quite often before this illustrated, that it isn't often enough, you may now resume reading.

I desided to pick up my design, because I'm at a point of just knitting for a good few cm's. I'm loving this yarn which I have no clue what is (the financial joys of being a student...). Two things are, however, obvious:
a) It is a somewhat 'coarse' wool.
b) It has a good amount of lanolin in it.
My hands feel so soft every time I've knitted with it.

It feels both exciting and scarry to be working on my first garment. My next challenge is pockets, so please let me know what your favourite way of knitting pockets is...

Now with toes

Okay, so while I know you cannot actually see it in this picture it is the best I have on hand, so you will just have to trust me when I tell you that both my dad's socks now how toes, ends woven in and all.

Now what should I pick up next? Cast on for new socks? Or knit on the dress?
